Jenna's Touch of Class

So, you know, just another D.C. school fundraiser. Go to them all the time. But this one, hosted by consulting firm DFI International for the Elsie Whitlow Stokes Community Freedom Public Charter School, featured an auction of student art that got quite aggressive. Fourth-grader Lucia Rios's sketch of the Supreme Court commanded $120, while Rebeca Gutierrez's Washington Monument fetched $410!

As the auction ended, some of the kids ran up to a fave teacher: " Ms. Bush ! Ms. Bush!" Or, as we know her, Jenna . Our city's remaining First Twin ( Barbara decamped to NYC this month) stood with a drink of some kind, casually elegant in a taupe-ish cotton-looking summer top and long-hemmed black pants. Her blond bob has grown out to a flattering near-shoulder length. She laughed a lot with the kids and tousled their hair.

So much to tell her! Alas, as we chatted with the school's founder, Linda Moore , Ms. Bush slipped quietly out the door. Must not have known we were there . . .
